Welcome to the Delaney Rose blog...

Delaney was born January 27, 2010 at 3:09 pm on a snowy Gunnison day. She was 14 weeks premature and weighed 1 pound 15 ounces. We survived 80 days in Grand Junction at St. Mary's NICU, and finally made it home the third week in April. We created this blog while living in GJ so that our friends and family could stay up to date on Delaney's progress. We plan to maintain the site and post when we can, so please enjoy!

Just like her Big Sis...

These pictures pretty well speak for themselves. Delaney was quite a site on her first day of dance class.  She seems to really enjoy music (just like Meredith), and is always running around the house dancing and singing.  Monday was her first formal dance class.  She was a little nervous being on her own with the group, but hopefully she'll enjoy it more over time.  Lately we find ourselves falling even more behind in life; hopefully someday the small blonds will look back and thank us for all the wonderful opportunities they've had!

Delaney's "Happy Day"...

We probably say it too much, but it is unreal how time flies. Little D has gone from micro-preemie to a thriving two year old in what seems like the blink of an eye.  Although our lives seem to be in a constant state of chaos, there is always time to celebrate special birthdays.  Delaney sure seems to understand what her birthday is all about and everybody had a great day. The birthday monsters spent some more time at our house while we were out and rearranged the girls' bedroom.  Delaney enjoyed her lunch at Mario's, and then we headed for our favorite local toy store, The Circus Train, for a special birthday gift (giraffe beanie baby). After dinner she opened her presents and then feasted on her moms special lady bug cupcakes.  Thanks to all of you that have helped make her first two years so special.  We're looking forward to many birthdays to come!

24 Month Check Up

Bad timing on her birthday week.  Little D had her check up the other day and had all sorts of grief.  Not only did she have her latest booster shots, but we were also told that she's still too little to turn her carseat around (she's been staring at the back seat for two years now).  She came in at 21.8 lbs and 33 inches, which doesn't make the cutoff to face forward.  Tomorrow is her birthday so things are bound to get better!

Ski Time!

Since a little snow finally came, the mini-blonds are able to start doing some of the fun stuff that goes with winter.  Meredith had her first day of cross-country ski class (thank you Nanny & Granddad), and really enjoyed it.  Hopefully the snow will last so that her class can continue.  We even dug the little sled out of the crawl space so the princess could be hauled around in the snow with all the amenities.

Finally...SNOW!

Its been a warm and dry winter in Gunnison.  Normally we are hardened by below zero temps and deep snows, but this winter has been more like a typical October.  Today was the first real snow storm we've had since early December so it was a pretty exciting day.  Meredith has been signed up for a cross-country skiing class that was postponed and on the verge of being cancelled due to lack of snow.  The winter has been unprecedented and folks are starting to get really nervous about this spring and summer and the shortage of water. Maybe we can actually go sledding for the first time this year-

Ours to Yours.... Happy New Year!

Don't know where the year has gone, but overall it's been a good one. Looking forward to what's yet to come in 2012!
