For Spring Break the Three Blonds hopped into the truck with their Nanny (Jennifer's mother) and took a 14 hour road trip to Tucson Arizona. It was a week of fun and adventure that will not soon be forgotten.... Upon arrival in Tuscon we were graciously greeted with warm cookies and milk by Granddad (who flew into Phoenix) and Uncle Buck who traveled from California with his lovely girlfriend Heather. They had checked into the timeshare ahead of us and filled the fridge with delicious food. We spent the the next few days hanging out at the pool enjoying the sun and even took a St. Patrick's day hike through Honey Bee Park. Our adventures took a devastating blow when a cold front moved through the state and brought snow to the Tucson area (yes, it snowed!). It was a good thing that the Colorado Rockies tickets for a spring training game were refundable because the game was cancelled due to the terrible wind and rain. We rallied together and tried not to let the inclement weather get us down and decided to visit the Biosphere 2 and the Xavier Mission. One of our best days was spent at the Chantilly Tea Room (thank you Heather for the great idea). The girls got to dress up fancy to enjoy PB and J sandwiches and drink hot cocoa from special tea cups that they picked out (it was tons of fun even for the adults). As the weather warmed we found ourselves at the park and sunning ourselves at the pool once again. In the evenings we ate delicious dinners and enjoyed each others company while we played games. Uncle Buck even surprised his big sis with an ice cream cake to celebrate her belated-birthday along with his up coming "happy day" (he'll be 30 on March 28th). What a week to remember!
**Special Note** Our trip to Tuscon was not only made special by our family members who traveled there.... We had the added benefit of vacationing where our dear friends live (what a treat). The Southall's moved to the Oro Valley several years ago from Gunnison. They live and work only a couple of minutes from the timeshare and luckily had the same week off for spring break that we did. Meredith and Courtney spent hours in the pool and Meredith had several sleep overs at Courtney's house. Leave it to Audra to take care of us and bring us delicious cinnamon rolls, Rice Crispy treats, and various other vacation necessities. Jennifer was able to spent a few precious hours catching up and laughing with her dear friend. We had a wonderful dinner out and Audra took us all to some wonderful restaurants for lunch. It seemed as if we had never been separated by many miles and so much time. Our hearts were saddened on the day we left and it was hard to hold back the tears. We hope that in the near future these wonderful friends will make it back to our neck of the woods.
Thank you everyone for making it a wonderful spring break!
