Looking for a Moose! (and more deer collars)

We've had some amazing trips this summer. Over the last several weekends, we have been in marathon radio collar recovery mode and have covered a lot of country. You can't help but see all sorts of neat things while you're out picking up deer collars, and the pictures tell some of that story. It won't be long before everything is snowed in and we're stuck at home dreaming of deer collars and the high country.

Deer Collar Hunting with Dr. Garmany & Family

I'm sure it will come as a suprise that we spent a good part of our weekend picking up mule deer radio collars. What made this trip different was that one of our favorite families, the Garmany's, were in town from Grand Junction, so we took the opportunity to spend a few hours in the woods outside Crested Butte. We always enjoy seeing the Garmany's and the kids have a good time hanging out together; especially when there's some adventure involved. It was supposed to be an "easy" collar to recover, but ended up taking us half way up the mountain. Fortunately, we eased our weary legs with a Teocali Tomale burrito so there's not much room for complaints! 

Fall is here!

As you can see from the photos, we are entering what is perhaps the most wonderful time of year here in western Colorado. Fall is in the air, and there is no better place to be than a golden aspen grove with the warm September sun on your back. Fortunately, we have plenty of excuses to be out there and have several more months to look forward to.

Mini Golf in Salida

We had a nice visit this weekend with Grandma and Grandpa in Salida, complete with a fiber festival, burrito feast, and mini-golf. It's hot out there on the course, but we managed to work through 18 holes. It gets pretty competetive out there on the back nine.

DD's Dance Class

Delaney is a music & dance afficionado so we thought we'd give formal dance a try. We assume it'll be pretty impressive once she gets past the newness/shyness. Her best performances typically come when nobody is looking, but chances are she'll enjoy her dance classes just like her sister did.
