Welcome to the Delaney Rose blog...

Delaney was born January 27, 2010 at 3:09 pm on a snowy Gunnison day. She was 14 weeks premature and weighed 1 pound 15 ounces. We survived 80 days in Grand Junction at St. Mary's NICU, and finally made it home the third week in April. We created this blog while living in GJ so that our friends and family could stay up to date on Delaney's progress. We plan to maintain the site and post when we can, so please enjoy!

A Spooktacular Day!

We had another fun Halloween this year. Now that Meredith is in first grade it's a bit of a marathon between her school Halloween party, trick-or-treating on main street in Gunnison with Delaney, and then an evening pizza party and neighborhood trick-or-treating. As always, we were impressed with the girl's costumes that Grandma Diamond made at their request. Meredith's Red Riding Hood costume was one of Brandon's favorites, and the little spider was awfully cute too. Now we're set for the next six months on candy.

Pumpkin Patch

Unfortunately we weren't able to make it to our traditional pumpkin patch this year. In spite of that, we were able to enjoy an entirely different experience picking out a few pumpkins at an apple orchard close to Grandma & Grandpa's. Meredith and Delaney had fun investigating the different trees and apple varieties found on the farm. We all enjoyed the fresh apple cider and visiting with the owners.

Good times, but there's no substitute for cutting your pumpkin fresh off the vine. We'll get over there next year.

Guitar Lessons

You might want to ask Meredith for her autograph now, because she has officially started guitar lessons. Maybe it was her dad, or maybe it's just her love of music, but she's excited to learn how to play the git-fiddle. After a lot of deliberation, she decided to take a break from dance class and try something new. Practice makes perfect Merry. Watch out Taylor Swift.

Antelope Hunting

Thanks to a good friend, Brandon has been able to hunt prime antelope country in eastern Colorado for the last several years. Despite a few bumps in the road, this trip was a great success and he brought home some of the best wild game meat around. The shortgrass prairie of Colorado is an amazing, diverse place. If somebody ever comes up with a time machine, Brandon's bucket list will include a lengthy trip to eastern Colorado, sometime around 1700 or so.
