Welcome to the Delaney Rose blog...

Delaney was born January 27, 2010 at 3:09 pm on a snowy Gunnison day. She was 14 weeks premature and weighed 1 pound 15 ounces. We survived 80 days in Grand Junction at St. Mary's NICU, and finally made it home the third week in April. We created this blog while living in GJ so that our friends and family could stay up to date on Delaney's progress. We plan to maintain the site and post when we can, so please enjoy!

March of Dimes

Unfortunately this was the first year that we were unable to make the March of Dimes fundraiser in Grand Junction.  Although we weren't there, we always take the time to remember Delaney's remarkable journey and all the good work that the MOD does for preemies.  Our best wishes go out to all the organizers and participants that took the time to celebrate and recognize these amazing kids!  A sincere thanks from the Diamonds!

Nightly Knot Fairy Visits....

For years our house has been visited nightly by the Knot Fairy.  Meredith was plagued by her when she was younger.  Her knots have faded a bit, but it seems the Knot Fairy has keyed in on Delaney Rose.  If you doubt the power of the Knot Fairy, we encourage you to read the book- it's a classic.

Kite Flying

Kite flying is more fun than you might think, but it takes a little practice to get good at it.  The other trouble you have is that good kite flying weather around here tends to be a little chilly to stay out very long.  The good news is that it feels a lot like spring in Gunnison.

Spring Snow!

Spring snows make for some of the best snowmen, even though they don't last for very long.  It was a great opportunity to use our snowman making kit.

Our Molly

Molly the mule is a very special member of our family.  She is the first mule we've ever had and if Brandon had his way, he'd have six more of her.  She's like a great horse with the personality of a sweet family dog.  Unfortunately she hurt her leg this spring and is likely going to be stuck in town for awhile.  She hurt a tendon in her lower front leg and is likely going to have a lengthy recovery.  Sometimes injuries like this one are forever and are career ending so we have our fingers crossed.  You can do it Molly- we have a lot of years in the mountains ahead of us.
