Welcome to the Delaney Rose blog...

Delaney was born January 27, 2010 at 3:09 pm on a snowy Gunnison day. She was 14 weeks premature and weighed 1 pound 15 ounces. We survived 80 days in Grand Junction at St. Mary's NICU, and finally made it home the third week in April. We created this blog while living in GJ so that our friends and family could stay up to date on Delaney's progress. We plan to maintain the site and post when we can, so please enjoy!

Wednesday

Another quiet day at the hospital- other than Meredith keeping everyone entertained with her sassiness. Delaney remains on 3 liters of flow and seems to be comfortable. In another week the doctors will reduce the flow and see if she can cope. Her first eye exam was today and the doctor didn't see anything out of the ordinary for now. As he explained to us, the important eye exams come later after her eyes have had more of a chance to develop and issues are more apparent.

Today the doctors also ordered Jennifer to try and "dry breast" Delaney to see if she'll show any interest in nursing. Delaney did a pretty good job and did some exploring. They'll just have to keep practicing during the coming weeks.

We miss home and are still mourning the loss of our Kymberly.

  2. Hello Jenn, Brandon, Meredith and Delaney,

We've had some very hectic days the past several days and did not get a chance to read the blog. I was so very surprised to hear about some of Delaney's setbacks and even more shocked to read about Kym. All of us send our deepest condolences and wish we could do more to help. Please let us know if there is anything we CAN do. I'll be sending Girl Scout cookies over the weekend.

Lots of Love, hugs and kisses to you all!

    -Holly
