Today the NICU staff decided to try a high-flow nasal canula for short periods of time and see how Delaney does. It's a treat to see her without all of her head gear on. During the times we've been in the NICU today she seems to be doing good without the CPAP mask on. She still has her episodes, but our nurses have learned some of her tricks and try to stay right on top of things in case she starts to have issues. They also decided that her newer feeding tube wasn't achieving the desired results, so we are back to her original tube directly into her stomach. For now, they're going to feed her in intervals rather than continuously so that she doesn't get so full, and so that they have an opportunity to pull some of the air out of her belly between feedings.Meredith has been making friends in the NICU, and may be destined to become a nurse. She's a pretty good helper but it's getting harder to pull her away from her sister when it's time to go.
Wow! What an amazingly strong girl and an amazingly strong family unit. This blog site is great! I finally created an account so that I could leave a message. Delaney's progress seems awesome - intense and scary - but everything seems to be flowing in the right direction?? Maybe it feels like a few steps forward and then a step back. Don't worry about the grey hairs, that's what hair coloring is for! Stay focused, stay strong, stay loving to Delaney and eachother. Your blog is so wonderful! It so hard being so far away and knowing you guys are going thru this, but you seem to have an awesome support system and your community behind you. Your family loves you dearly and we are all here watching everyday to see how you are. Delaney seems like a little fighter already. You guys hang in there and know we love you and look forward to hearing about everyday. We will be in touch later, Love Rick, Pam and all the boys!
